WHO
All Christian Schools in the State of Michigan and around the Great Lakes Region.
WHAT
To Become a Founding Member of the Great Lakes Christian Schools Partnership, a new association of Christian Schools that is being organized in the State of Michigan as a 501(c)(3) educational charity.
Why
Most Christian Schools are facing troubling times that mirror Michigan’s difficult economic
challenges. Enrollment in many Christian Schools is declining. Michigan’s unemployment rate is
the highest in the country, rendering it more difficult for many families to afford a quality private
Christian education. Many families are opting for home schooling instead of a private or public
education. The State of Michigan is the only state in the U.S. that does not offer educational
vouchers for private education. A 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable status will allow the Partnership to apply for grants and provide financial assistance to Partnership members.
When
The time is now. Many Christian Schools are facing difficult budget choices including teacher/ staff attrition and reduced curricula. The formation of a 501(c)(3) takes several months and many donors are now reviewing grant applications received for fiscal year 2009. Time is of the essence to help Christian education in the State of Michigan. |
